Abstract
Using a case study approach, this presentation will provide an overview of the Lehigh@NasdaqCenter partnership, an exclusive academic-in-residence collaboration between Lehigh University and the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center in San Francisco, CA. The mission of the Lehigh@NasdaqCenter is to educate, connect and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators. Through the partnership, Lehigh and Nasdaq are co-designing high-impact immersive learning experiences that support entrepreneurial talent development for students, startups and professionals. The partnership framework is made up of four key engagement areas: Immersive Learning, Knowledge Creation, Business Incubation, and Global Thought Leadership. In this session, we will highlight flagship programs, such as Startup Academy and the Global Entrepreneurship Internship which place cohorts of top student talent in project-based internships with high growth startups, currently in San Francisco, UK and India. These programs provide a multi-sided approach to entrepreneurial talent development, delivering mutual value to the academic and entrepreneurial communities: the students develop entrepreneurial mindsets and skillsets through real-world experiences, while the companies gain access to top student talent and a cohort of companies for shared learning around entrepreneurial talent development. The unique curriculum is based on the Nasdaq Center’s individualized learning approach for entrepreneurial development that encompasses the “whole entrepreneur,” defined as enhancing a founder from the inside out to provide them with innate skills that lead to entrepreneurial success (e.g., communication, organization, vision, self-confidence, independence, leadership and creativity). Through this presentation, we will also share how we’re working with universities and industry partners globally through educational program exchanges, joint research and best practice sharing.
