Research to value Check-ups: How to motivate and engage scientists in value creation opportunities?

How to motivate and engage scientists in value creation opportunities? How to clarify business opportunities out of research early on?

Background and Objectives
Many inventions with great potential remain. Many exciting ideas are not implemented. And many research results end in digital drawers, because nothing is made of it. This is a pity.

To move more projects from the world of scientific insights into real-world applications we have implemented the research-to-value (r2v) program. The mission of the r2v program is therefore to help transform research results into value creation.

“Our passion is research. Our goal is value creation.”

In four different formats - namely
- r2v Check-ups
- r2v Trainings
- r2v Workshops
- r2v Coachings
we elaborate together with research teams how their findings could be transformed into a value creation. We explore how the research results and inventions could be translated into valuable applications, products and business models.

In the good practise workshop I would like to present and discuss our successful measure of r2v Check-ups.

The r2v program is conducted by tecnet equity, a daughter company of the regional Government of Austria (a state of Austria). tecnet’s r2v program provides holistic support for Lower Austrian universities, research institutions, and start-ups in the market implementation of their research results. In addition tecnet manages an public venture capital fund for financing start-ups.
